Hooray!!

Well, our vacation has officially started. The car is packed, the munchkin is ready. All we are doing is waiting on Mom to get home so that we can have lunch and then we are on the road! Yea!
I will post pictures from our trip when I get back on Sunday (or maybe Tuesday).
Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

A day of hooky

It is safe to say that Jimmy really enjoyed his day of hooky. We got to sleep in a little bit, went to breakfast with Pa-Pa, went to Walmart, got some new cars (like he needed them), and got to play with Mommy. Needless to say, someone did not want to go to school this morning. He is going to be so spoiled by the end of the week since he is only going to school two days this week. He will not want to go to school on Monday (but, then again, neither do I).
And, now some pictures of our day of hooky.

And, finally, a comparison picture of the only fruit that survived.

"Throw it at me"

Yet another thing that I thought I would never say to my two and a half year old son. The bad behavior I am currently teaching him is how to catch mini marshmallows with your mouth...ain't I just the coolest mommy ever!! And, the easiest way to do this is to take turns throwing marshmallows at each other. I figure marshmallows are pretty safe. They are small enough to catch in your mouth but not so small that you could choke on one. They are also soft so they don't hurt when they hit you in the eye. All in all, the perfect "catch with your mouth" type of food.

So, Easter dinner is over with and one family guest has already left for home. The other guest is spending the night and taking me to breakfast in the morning. He rocks! I'm letting Jimmy play hooky tomorrow since Pa-Pa will be here, so he's only going to school two and a half days this week. The plans have changed once again concerning the zoo. We are back to the original plan of Pa-Pa, Jimmy, and I going to the zoo on Friday. Oma is not even going to come up to Florence that weekend. According to the Weather Channel Online, the weather in Columbia is going to be beautiful on Friday (mostly sunny, high 82) and crappy on Saturday (scattered thunderstorms, high 79). I really didn't feel like dodging raindrops while trying to see all of the animals, especially since we did that when we went to the zoo in December (which is the whole reason why we are going now). So, since the plans were switch back to Friday, Oma will not be able to go with us. I really hate to say this, but it is probably for the best that she isn't going with us. My patience for her excuses runs really thin lately.

Anyways, that's all I've got right now. I can't believe I have posted twice today, especially since I usually go a month or two between posts! Hope everyone is having a blessed day!

Happy Easter!!

Something I never thought I would say...

to a 2 and a half year old - "No, you can't have any candy because you didn't eat all of your dinner. You only ate your vegetables."
Say what? Yes, he only ate his vegetables. And I'm not just talking about corn, green beans, peas, and carrots. This boy eats broccoli, brussel sprouts, asparagus, and tomatoes. Yes, brussel sprouts! If only I could get him to eat more meat though. I have tried so many things. He likes chicken nuggets, but I'd feel like such a bad mommy if I gave him chicken nuggets EVERY NIGHT! So, I try different things. He likes Nathan hot dogs, but again, I don't want to give him those every night that I'm not giving him nuggets. Tuesday night we had corned beef (I know, it was a day off but I had school Monday) and he LOVED it! And he likes lunch meat, especially turkey. But, put a piece of turkey or chicken breast on his plate and you would think it was poisoned! We have recently started getting the Lunchables mini hot dogs and hamburgers and he likes those. I just pray that one day he will suprise me and eat everything that I put on his plate without having to be coerced into it.
Okay, so this is a totally random posting. Happy Easter!

F-1 Tomatoes

I forgot that I also wanted to share this really cute story.

There was a really nasty storm system that came through SC on Saturday. We were watching the Columbia news while eating dinner and they were showing pictures of storm damages and possible tornadoes (yes, they looked like tornadoes but you can't say that is what it is until the National Weather Service comes in and says that it was a tornado). So, Jimmy was being his usual silly self at the table and I decided to divert his attention to the news. "Look, Jimmy - tornadoes." "Tomatoes??" Mom, Dad, and I about choked on our pizza!!

Okay, so that is it for cute stories. Hope everyone is having a great pre-Easter week!

"Are you listening to me?"

It's amazing the realizations that you can have listening to your child play. Case in point - this last weekend. I was in my room, working on a HUGE paper for class, and Jimmy was quietly (what?) playing with his cars on the floor. We really weren't paying each other much attention, just doing our own things. Then, I barely hear, "Are you listening to me? No! Go corner!" A little confused as to who he was talking to, I glanced at him. He was talking to his cars!! I started to giggle, and then I realized that he was repeating me! Not so funny then. Apparently, I say that very frequently. And, that's not the only time! Saturday morning, Jimmy and I were fixing breakfast and Coco was being his usual whiny kitty. I told Jimmy that Coco was being a troublemaker. And from the sweetest little cherub face, "Like me, Mommy?" Aww! My response - "Yes, just like you." Evil, I know, but I said it with a smile. =)

School is going well. I'm already half way through the semester and things are slowing down a bit. I have finished my clinicals for one of my classes and I only have 2 clinicals left for the other class. We have taken 2 tests in each of my classes; the 2 for my Psychiatric/Mental Health class have been in the 90s; the 2 for Pharmacology and the 2 for Transitions have all been in the 80s. I am very happy with those grades, especially since some people aren't doing as well.

Spring Break is only 2 days away!! Yea! Jimmy and I are going to Granddad's for a few days at the end of my break. The plans are that we will be going to the zoo that Saturday and Jimmy and I are really looking forward to it. Granddad and Oma will be going with us, so it should be very interesting...I mean, fun.

And, now, a silly picture!

Happy Tuesday!!
