Just one other thing...

I am taking my NCLEX-RN on Thursday in Columbia at 1 pm. For those who may not know, this is my big licensure test that will grant me my RN license. So, I would appreciate any thoughts and prayers that y'all could send my way around that time!

Hello Friendly Blog People!

I know that it has been forever since I have posted anything (it has been an absolutely crazy year), but I just had to share my 2 cents about something.

Recently, SC Gov. Mark Sanford made headlines by saying that he was going to reject SC's portion of the stimulus money. I just wanted to say that I agree with his reasons. He wants to use $700 million of the $8 billion that SC is going to get to pay off SC's debt; that is less than 10% of the total amount. That would leave $7,300,000,000 to do every thing else that SC Congress and House of Representatives want to do; yes, that is 7 billion, 300 million to do whatever the state wants to do. And our debt would be paid off. But, Pres. Obama said no and many other Democrats and some Republicans (from SC and the rest of the nation) think that it is crazy to pay off your debt first. No wonder the country has a huge deficit! Funny, though, when you think about how different the government is from regular people. If a regular person would ignore his debt and just keep racking up more debt, he would experience bankruptcy among other unsavory repercussions; but, the government can just keep ignoring its debt and continue to spend money frivolously by building bridges on Seminole reservations that don't go anywhere (and that the Seminoles don't even want) and other pork belly projects. Think about it: if SC could pay off its debt, the state government workers (like teachers and highway patrol officers) could get back to work without having to worry about unpaid furloughs. And there would still be over $7 billion to do everything else!

OK, so I am now going to step off my soapbox. I just had to comment about this because it's about time that somebody in government makes some sense!

And just 2 more side notes: (1) I did not vote for Sanford during his last election, but I am glad that he won; and, (2) if regular people just printed more money when they needed to pay some bills, it would be called counterfeiting; but, when the government does it, it's called a stimulus package.

If you want to read more about Sanford's idea, check this out.

Happy Nurses Day!!

Yes, this is a real holiday. Actually, there is a whole week devoted to nurses!
So, anyways, I just wanted to spread some good vibes to my brother and tell him that he rocks and I am so proud of him! Happy Nurses Day, Sean!
And, to my s-i-l, I haven't had a chance to burn that CD of pictures from almost a month ago. I will burn it this week but wait until I hear from you concerning your new address. Drive safely across country!
Ok, so that's really all I have to say for now. I'll post later this week with my grades for the semester (yes, the semester is finally over!).
