Another step

towards being a big boy was taken today. This morning, Jimmy pee-peed in the potty again. I can't believe how big he is getting. Before I know it, he will be in school. After that, driving, dating, and working. Soon, he won't need me anymore. Okay, maybe not soon, but it won't be long.
I can't believe that he will be two on Saturday. The time has really flown by. It seemed like only yesterday, I was bringing him home from the hospital. Now, he is walking, talking, running, dancing, and pee-peeing in the potty. He is such a big boy. {sniff, sniff}

I just have to document this!

Jimmy went pee-pee in the potty for the first time!! He is one step closer to being a big boy!

He is also a funny boy. We were playing on the living room floor tonight when Coco came out and rubbed on me. I told Jimmy that Coco was probably looking for something and if he thought it might be tuna. Jimmy nodded his cute little head "yes" and then got up and walked toward the kitchen. I asked him where he was going. He looked at me and said, "Tuna." The cute, adorable, little boy wanted to give the kitty some tuna. How could I say no?? So, I got up and got out some tuna and a little plate and the can opener and Jimmy pulled his little stool up next to me and watched me open the tuna and put some on the plate. Then he took the plate and tried to carefully step off of the stool. Note that I said carefully. Needless to say, he wasn't careful enough and fell on his butt and dropped tuna on the floor (not that Coco really cared where it was as he promptly began eating it off the floor). So, we cleaned up the tuna and he carried the plate over to Coco's food dish and put it down and then came back and helped me wipe up the floor and put the rest of the tuna into a plastic container. A few moments later, Coco had finished his tuna. Jimmy saw the empty plate and said, "Coco done" and then went over and picked up the plate. I told him he could throw it away (it was paper) but he thought that we needed to scrape the little bit of tuna still on the plate and wash the plate. Too cute!

OK, so that's my story of the day. Have a great Monday!!

Just an update

In case anyone was wondering...I made an 88 on that test that I was procrastinating on studying for. Go me!
That's all I have for right now. =)

Just have to remember this

Jimmy is so funny...and smart. He is really beginning to talk up a storm and repeats just about everything I say (thank God he doesn't repeat everything I say). Yesterday, as he was playing and Mom and I were talking amongst ourselves, Jimmy, just out of the blue, says, "I'm a good boy." It was so cute! Tonight, we were at Ryan's and there was a fly flying around and he kept telling the fly, "Go way fly."

We had a really great weekend with Granddad/PaPa. Jimmy really has gotten attached to PaPa. He was really upset when we were leaving on Sunday because PaPa wasn't in the car with us. He also enjoyed spending time with my friend, Annette.

I had a really great and totally cool day today. Today was a clinical day and I was able to spend it at the beach. Yep, I had clinical at the beach. How cool is that?? I was observing the Joy School (the place that really rocks with the handicapped students) and today was their beach day. And, to top it all off, I talked my way (and the 5 other students with me from tech) into Huntington Beach State Park for free. Yep, I'm that good. Here are some pictures of my day.

My new best friend, Ladona. She always wants to have a picture taken with me and be around me the whole time I am there. She is super sweet and very loving.

My best friend Kellie and one of the students from the Conway campus (not sure of her name).

Our Tech group minus Kellie (she was taking the picture). From left to right: Tameika, me, lady from the Conway campus, Tonya, and the other lady from the Conway campus.

Procrastination...

should be my middle name.

I should be studying for my test on Monday (8 chapters), especially since I will be in Florence from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. But, instead, I am blogging. But, in my defense, it has been over a month since I last blogged.

So...some funny things about Jimmy.

Funny thing #1: Jimmy likes chicken livers. Well, at least he likes the fried chicken livers from KFC. Jimmy will have you scratching your head about the things that he eats. Boiled peanuts, fried chicken livers, limy beans (as he calls them). But the thing that really gets me is that, when we are at Sam's, he will eat everything I hand him (bratwurst, meatballs, pizza), but, when we buy the exact same thing and cook it at home, he won't touch it. I don't get it.
Funny thing #2: Jimmy locked himself in his bedroom the other day. It was about 9 am or so, and I heard him moving about in his room and messing with the doorknob, trying to open the door. Then he started whining. So, I got up and went to his room to get him...but I couldn't open the door. Now, I knew that it wouldn't be long before this happened. I told Mom weeks ago, "I need to turn his doorknob around so that he can't lock himself in." But, again, I procrastinated. So, at 9ish in the morning, freshly awake with the Munchkin whining on the other side, I was taking his doorknob off. Needless to say, his doorknob is now turned around so that he can't lock himself in again. But, what really makes this story priceless is, later that day, Dad reminded Mom that the keys (little allen wrenches) for all the bedroom doors were in a bag in the junk drawer. I didn't even know there were keys to those doors!
Funny thing #3: Jimmy has this set of Crayola cards with words and pictures on them. Every couple of days, Jimmy wants to play cards. Basically, playing cards entails me spreading the cards out on the floor and asking him to find one in particular until he has given me all of the cards. And yes, he actually likes to do this. He points to the cards and says, "Play cards." So, Saturday evening he decided that he wanted to play cards. I spread all of the cards on the floor and start asking him to find them. I asked him where the sun card was and he found it. Then, before he handed it to me, he started really looking at, studying it (at least someone studies in this house), then looked up at me and squinted his eyes shut and smiled with his mouth open, just like the sun. I was laughing so hard, there were tears in my eyes. So, now the thing to do is ask Jimmy to make the "Sunshine Face." He did it about 10 times before I decided that this face needed to be immortalized. But, I had a time getting him to do it when the camera came out.

So, now some news about me...
There are only 3 weeks (exactly today) until I take my last Practical Nursing exam, and 4 weeks until I am pinned as an LPN. Then I have the dreaded NCLEX exam. So far, my grades are good and I am not having any problems (like I would). Our clinicals are very different from how they were. (1)We are now doing observations only. New law that passed last year states that LPN students can no longer work under a preceptorship, which means that we can no longer work under the license of someone other than an instructor. So, this means that we are standing around with nothing to do. Fortunately, the one pediatrician's office that I have been to so far is really cool about having us in the rooms when the nurses and doctors are in there with the patient. Hopefully the two OB/GYNs that I go to my last week will be cool about having us there, too. I know that the pediatrician's office that I am going to tomorrow is really a butt about having students there (or so I've been told)...and that's also Jimmy's old pediatrician (I say old because yesterday I switched him to the pediatrician that I was at...I really liked that office). (2)We are also doing observations at daycares. That one is a little strange, but it helps us understand the different developmental theories. These are a little more hands on because kids don't care if you are not supposed to touch them. I haven't really cared for the daycares too much...it's really made me appreciate Jimmy's daycare a lot more. (3)We have also done observations at the jail in Conway (which was pretty neat but I don't think I would do it...too much crap to deal with concerning the inmates lieing about every dag-blasted thing), a 4D ultrasound place (which was also really neat but I know that I wouldn't spend $200 on it until my baby was at least 34 weeks and looking a little more human...and then I probably still wouldn't do it), and this really cool school for developmentally challenged students. This school is in Pawley's Island and I love it there. I go two times next week.
I've already signed up for my fall classes. I have to take something in the fall to get my financial aid and not have to pay just yet. So, I have a full schedule to maximize my aid. I am taking Technical Spanish (because let's face it...they aren't learning English anytime soon) at the Conway campus on Monday and Wednesday afternoon, Probability and Statistics at the Georgetown campus on Monday and Wednesday nights, Chemistry II (just because I really like the teacher...which is the reason I took Physics last summer) at the Grand Strand campus on Tuesday and Thursday mornings with lab on Tuesday afternoons, and Human Growth and Development on the internet (pray for me on this one...internet classes are a procrastinator's worst nightmare). The Statistics class and the Growth and Development classes are going to help me move on to my BSN (because for some reason they think you need Statistics...I wonder what the statistics are of nurses that figuring statistics in the everyday care of patients). The chemistry class will be the last class I need to take (I think) for my Associate in Science degree, and the Spanish class is just for sh*ts and giggles.
Ok, well, I think that is everything for now. Hope this is enough to last my public until my next posting, whenever that will be. Have a wonderful day/week/month!
